It designates a 1:1 relationship between shifter cable travel and derailleur movement. The SRAM Rival 22 11-Speed Rear Derailleur is available in both a Short and Medium cage version. The Short cage has a maximum rear cog capacity of 28 teeth while the Medium is able to work with a 32t cog.
